Announces 2023 Corporate and Community Awards

Sacramento, CA - The National Association of Asian Pacifics in Politics and Public Affairs (NAAPPPA) is proud to present the 2023 Corporate and Community Impact Awards. Every year, NAAPPPA selects individuals, media/journalists, and organizations that promote the inclusion of AAPIs in key sectors of public affairs and politics.


NAAPPPA is a non-partisan non-profit national organization dedicated to promote and develop Asian American and Pacific Islander career advancement and excellence in political consulting, public affairs, and legislative advocacy through networking, innovative training, and professional development. NAAPPPA’s members include legislative staff and professionals specializing in political campaigns, direct mail, polling, communications, opposition research, political compliance, fundraising, public and government affairs, media relations, and legislative advocacy.

NAAPPPA's Annual Forward Award


State Assemblymember Phillip Chen, for his work mentoring and promoting young AAPI professionals in the political and public affairs arena. Assemblymember Chen annually nominates AAPI staff for NAAPPPA’s 40 Under 40 List and has been a guest speaker at NAAPPPA’s Career Conferences. He represents the 59th State Assembly District, which encompasses portions of Orange and San Bernardino counties and includes the cities of Anaheim Hills, Brea, Chino, Chino Hills, Fullerton, North Tustin, Orange, Placentia, Villa Park, and Yorba Linda. Chen graduated from Servite High School in Anaheim and earned his BA in Communications from California State University, Fullerton as well as an MA in Public Administration and a Doctoral of Educational Psychology from the University of Southern California. He also served as an Adjunct Faculty Professor at the USC Sol Price School of Public Policy.

Nichi Bei News for outstanding trailblazing news media platforms that support and promote AAPI political and issue-based news content. The Nichi Bei News is a visionary publication that is the first nonprofit ethnic newspaper of its kind in the country and was founded by former staff and contributing writers of the international award-winning Nichi Bei Times, Northern California’s oldest and most respected Japanese American newspaper until its closing in September 2009. The Nichi Bei News is grounded by a strong and focused mission of keeping the community connected, informed and empowered. It strives to be the glue that holds the community together.

Comcast’s work to address digital inequities continues to build momentum with the launch of Project UP backed with a $1 billion investment to provide tens of millions of Americans access to the technology, tools, and resources that will enable them to build skills, careers, and pathways to economic mobility in an increasingly digital society. Comcast also awarded millions in monetary, marketing, and technology grants to help thousands of entrepreneurs of color keep their businesses open amidst a pandemic.
