WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, Congresswoman Doris Matsui (CA-07), Ranking Member of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Communications and Technology, issued the following statement on the nomination of Anna Gomez to serve on the Federal Communication Commission (FCC).
“Anna Gomez is the right choice to serve as our next FCC commissioner,” said Congresswoman Matsui. “Since 2021, I have advocated for her nomination because I firmly believe in her values, experience, and abilities. Over her nearly 30 years of experience in telecommunications and technology policy, she has been a powerful voice for advancing American innovation and promoting digital equity. Her exceptional track record of public service at the NTIA, FCC, State Department, National Economic Council, and Senate Commerce Committee exemplify her commitment to fighting for every American’s ability to succeed in the 21st century economy.”
“Anna has been unwavering in her pursuit of a more inclusive and equitable digital ecosystem,” Matsui continued. “Her work has empowered underserved and overlooked communities. She brings a wealth of experience and a perspective that will be crucial to navigating the complex policy issues we face in the coming years. I support the Biden Administration’s nomination of Anna Gomez and look forward to seeing her confirmed as quickly as possible.”
Congresswoman Matsui has long been a champion of promoting innovation and equity in technology and serves as co-chair of the Congressional Spectrum and High Tech Caucuses. She has consistently advocated for the nomination of Ms. Gomez to the FCC. She wrote to President Biden in March 2021 and again last month, strongly recommending Ms. Gomez for the post.
